Shifting Focus

Shifting Focus, was my narrative directorial debut. Starring, Bridgette Kelly and Tess Van Horn, with the music of South China.

Synopsis: Feeling pressure to choose between being an artist or relinquishing to commercial work, Elle struggles to find her voice in her relationship, and as an artist.

Shifting Focus premiered at the Theatre Ensemble of Color's April 2017 showcase.

In addition to completing my fist solo film, I compiled a 250+ page process book detailing the of work involved with developing the story, script, casting, storyboarding, permits, and additional behind-the-scenes work. This project, while primarily used as a vehicle for personal exploration and art therapy, was used as proof that Maine College of Art has the ability to grow and include an independent filmmaking program as a part of their curriculum.
Below are some production stills, as well as a few excepts from the process book.
